Why Condos Are The Best Choice

Posted on

Choosing a home to live in can be a tough decision to make, especially if you're trying to decide between an individual home, condo, or townhome. However, the choice may be easier for you than people from other generations. Read on to learn why condos are the perfect choice for first-time homeowners.

Location

Unlike houses, which can be in urban food deserts or way off in the countryside, condos tend to be developed right in the middle of the city. This means that people who live in condos can typically access grocery stores, trendy shops, and cafes just by walking or biking down the street.

If you're a typical modern, there's a strong likelihood that you prefer walking or biking if you can. One study found that millennials don't tend to like driving as much as the other generations, so this particular perk may be to your liking.

Safety

Are you one of the many people that spends time traveling, either for work or pleasure? Millennials travel more than any other generation, and that means you may end up spending a lot of time away from home. Thankfully, one advantage to living in a condo is that they tend to be very safe homes to live in. Most condos are built very close together, creating a sense of community among neighbors that other homeowners may not feel. This means that your neighbors will be looking out for your house for any suspicious activity if you need to go out of town. Additionally, many condos are inside gated communities and have 24 hour guard service.

Ease of Ownership

Millennials also tend to work harder than other generations, with some going far beyond the 40 hour work week. While that's great for your career, it doesn't leave a lot of time for the typical house maintenance tasks, like mowing the lawn, keeping the outside of your home tidy, and repairing regular wear and tear on your home.

Condo owners don't need to worry about these tasks, however. The vast majority of condos have condominium associations that condo owners pay a fee to on a monthly basis. The main benefit is that condo owners get their home maintenance, lawn mowing, and snow shoveling handled by the association, so they don't have to lift a finger.
