Tips For Planning A Beach Honeymoon

Posted on

One of the most popular destinations for honeymoons is anywhere with a beach. Beaches provide a romantic scene, plenty to do and see, and often a great cultural attraction that is fun to experience together. If you are hoping to get to the beach for your honeymoon, here are some things to consider when you are planning.

Choose a Beach House Instead of a Luxury Hotel

Many couples think they need to stay at luxury hotel during the honeymoon, taking advantage of large bathtubs, room service, and other perks. However, hotels have an impersonal feel, and sometimes you may still wish for greater privacy. Renting a private beach house has a few advantages:

  • kitchen access. You might like the idea of cooking your own meals, especially if you are honeymooning on a budget.
  • beach access. Some hotels can be right on the beach, but if you stay at a beach house, you can look for a place that has private beach access. This way you don't have to join the tourists on the beaches by the hotels, but you can instead enjoy the ocean together without interruptions.
  • a living area. Many hotels only provide a bathroom and bedroom. Living areas will be great when you feel like cuddling on the couch watching a movie and listening to the waves outside the window.

These are just a few advantages. Some beach house specialize in honeymoons and they will roll out the red carpet for you to make it the best experience possible.

Plan Some Excursions

Some couples make the mistake of choosing the rental and destination, including flights, but they don't make plans past that point. You should plan some experiences together, especially if they require some preparation beforehand. For example, if the beach is in a historical area, you might want to arrange a tour of a local museum. You might want to take a trip inland to see some old ruins or to visit some local shops that have famous foods and goods. These require research beforehand. if you don't make some sort of lose plan, you might miss some if the gems in the place you are staying.

Try New Things Together

It's tough to step outside your comfort zone, but on the honeymoon, you'll want to experience as much as you can with your new spouse. When making plans to eat at restaurants, opt to try local cuisine and specialties instead of staying in the safe zone with hamburgers and pasta. Most coastal areas have delicious and unique seafood options that, even if you don't normally like fish or seafood, taste exceptional. If you end up hating the dish, you'll have a great memory to carry back with you over the years.

Don't Forget to Plan for Essentials

Many people get swept up in the romance of planning for the idea of the honeymoon and they forget about the tiny day-to-day things that they will need while there. For example, if you are staying a long time, will you need a washer and dryer for some of your clothes? Do you have any dietary restrictions your guest house will need to know about? Are soap and shampoo provided, or will you need to bring your own? Does the rental provide bedding and towels? These are some of the day-to-day details you will need to plan for, because if you don't you can bring unnecessary stress to your trip when you suddenly find yourself without some essential items.
