3 Steps To Take Before Last-Minute Showings On Your House

Posted on

When you list your home, an agent could call you at any time to let you know about an upcoming viewing. There may be times when you have hours or days to prepare for these viewings, but there may also be times when you have less than an hour. Getting your house prepared for a last-minute viewing can be somewhat difficult and overwhelming, but here are some tips that might help you with this.

Declutter your entire home

Right before you list your house for sale, you should take the time needed to fully clean your home and declutter it. Decluttering is the process of removing anything that is not really needed, and having a clutter-free home can make it much easier for you to prepare for last-minute showings.

Use laundry baskets for junk

No matter how clean your house is when you list it, it will still get dirty, messy, and cluttered if you are living there, and this is especially true if you have children living in the house with you. To help with this, have two or three empty laundry baskets ready for last-minute showings. When you find out about a showing, grab a basket and walk through each room in your home. As you do this, put anything in the basket that doesn't belong where you found it. You can then set the baskets in your garage, or you could even put them in your car if you have room. This is a great way to instantly declutter your house before a showing, and you can even have your kids help you with this.

Give everything a quick wipe down

After you pick up everything that doesn't belong, grab a bottle of glass cleaner (or some other type of solution) and a rag or paper towels and begin wiping things down. You should wipe down your counters, the kitchen table, end tables, and bathroom vanities. Giving your house a good wipe down will make it look shiny, clean, and tidy. After completing this, take one last look around to make sure everything looks as good as it can with the small amount of time you had. If you see any additional easy steps you can take, go ahead and do them if you have time.

When you get a call for a last-minute showing, you should do all you can to make it happen, even if your house is not as perfect as you would like. To learn more about selling your house, talk to a real estate agent at an agency like Real Living Craig Realty today.
